The International Drama Short Film Festival takes place every September and lasts for six days, turning the city into a meeting place for a large number of filmmakers and artists from the industry.
The festival was held for the first time in 1978 as an initiative of the Drama Film Club and over the years became one of the most important film festivals in Greece until it became international in 1995.
Of the approximately 2000 short films submitted each year, there are 50 to 60 screenings including the best new films from Greece and around the world. The arrangement includes three official competition programs, nine film specials, workshops, talks and many cultural events.
Award-winning films are selected by committees of international film and media professionals, while the festival’s growing reputation makes it a gateway to some of the most prestigious short film awards, as well as winning films qualifying for the European Film Awards.
